glock gen 6

glock gen 6

Glock Gen 6 - For a long time, the GLOCK G46 was a closely guarded secret that could only be found at government auctions. For the first time, the Austrian manufacturer offers a gun with a rotating barrel and a covered release system. We tested the new service pistol of the German state police, Saxony-Anhalt. Read on to find out what it was like at the shooting range!

The G46 is GLOCK's answer to the German Police Force's Technical Requirements (TR) for service pistols. It certainly comes a bit late, as most of the German federal states acquired the new generation of service pistols some time ago. Despite this, GLOCK managed to score at least one point in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt (see our article). About 8,600 G46 pistols will be delivered there by 2021. Rumor has it that the police of the time wrote the TR deliberately so that the internationally successful "class leader" from Austria would stand out.

On the G46 you can find the teeth on the front slide area and on the slide stop handle on the right side.

Used Glock 19 Gen5 9x19mm 19 Gen5 Hand Gun Buy Online

One of the key technical requirements that GLOCK has failed so far is that the gun can be disassembled without pulling the trigger. Not a huge disadvantage for experienced shooters after passing the security check, the police will probably see differently. At least the training theory can be taught that the trigger is only used for shooting. It also explains the protruding mechanism at the rear of the G46 slide, which caused a lot of rumors when the first pictures of the G46 made the rounds. A fire selector switch is quickly suggested, but the truth is more obvious if less sentimental as a cup release feature. Of course, the gun can be lowered only after the slide is pulled back a little. So accidental discharge, for example in the vagina, is completely impossible. To lower the gun, you need to operate a small lever on the left side of the grip, which various forums on the internet list as a manual safety.

The original new area for the GLOCK can also be found inside when the gun is disassembled. While all other pistols from the Austrian manufacturer employ a Browning-SIG-Peter locking system, the G46 is based on a rotary barrel. However, this has nothing to do with technical requirements. According to GLOCK, this principle has long been considered because it allows for a shorter barrel axis. In the past, several manufacturers tried the rotary system in their guns, such as B&T TSP, Colt All American, Beretta 8000 Cougar or Mauser M2, all of which have now disappeared from the market. Currently, the Italian Beretta PX-4Storm and the Slovak Grand Power K100 can still be found.

Compared to the G19 (left), it's easy to see how low the barrel axis is in a rotary action.

Although ingenious inventor John Moses Browning patented a revolver as early as 1897, the 1907 Roth-Stair was the first revolver to be produced in "large" quantities. You can also find a preloaded trigger there like a GLOCK. A very interesting gun, impressively demonstrating what was already possible at the time with significantly limited production capabilities. The Roth-Steier gun inevitably closes the circle again for Austria. By the way, rotary action pistols are said to be more accurate, because the barrel does not tilt or move back like in the Browning-SIG-Peter system, but only makes a rotary movement. The rotary locking system is said to be subject to high wear, especially if the locking surfaces or proper material properties are not properly selected. According to the manufacturer, the locking surfaces and locking material have been optimized. According to GLOCK, certification by the Ulm proof house revealed that the three guns with 10,000 rounds of high ammunition showed no cracks, damage or other abnormalities other than a flawless cycle (only 5 stops total).

Glock G34 Semi Auto Pistol

First-time shooters of the G46 may not be particularly impressed with its trigger qualities. A look at the trigger scan clearly shows that a pull weight of about 137.56 oz / 3900 g and a trigger travel of 0.59" / 15 mm would be required to break the trigger. But unfortunately that's what the specs dictate with trigger resistance. At least 30 N, that's a trigger of about 104 oz / 2950 g Matches pull weight. According to TR, trigger travel should also be between 0.39"-0.59" / 10-15 mm, at least for the first shot. It's also worth noting that since we're currently in spec, trigger reset should be at least 0.157" / 4 mm. Whether this makes it easier for the user to hit the target or make the gun easier to handle remains to be seen. safe A rhetorical question for producers or users, you should take it lightly. As an option, GLOCK offers the G46 with a weight of 88.18 oz / 2.5 kg and a shortened trigger stroke.

Although the GLOCK 46 may seem a bit more complex, we manage with as few individual parts as possible, per the GLOCK philosophy. So the latest successors from Deuts-Wagram consist of 37 individual parts, so only 3 more than the G19. By the way, if you want to go deeper with the G46 and its rotary system, you can take a closer look at the published patent EP 3179193A1. We determined an indentation of 0.014"/0.36mm for strike impact on a copper compression cylinder using a chamber gauge supplied by Tribel, with an almost perfectly centered indentation. By the way, TR sets a minimum value of 0.011" / 0.3mm. Maximum eccentricity 0.007 inch / 0.2 mm.

However, the firing pin unit cannot be pulled out completely and therefore cannot be lost. Of course, this manipulation can only be done when the slide is open...

Glock Gen 6

The size of the G46 is similar to the size of the G19, so the magazine holds 15 rounds. The grip immediately attracts attention due to the elongated grip spur. The highly durable nDLC coating (Diamond-like Carbon), which became standard in the 5th generation, is also available in this service version. The magazine release button is reversible for left-handers, and the slide stop lever can be found on either side, as on the GLOCK Gen5 pistols. The 3.9" / 100mm long barrel features the new GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) profile, which ensures high accuracy. The firing pin, which was distinctively spear-shaped until Gen4, has given way to a round shape. The pistol comes with iron sights that include bright dots.

The firing pin assembly was removed in detail. The current fifth generation round firing pin is also found here.

First contact with this series was at GLOCK, birthplace of the G46. We hit the home range following an invitation to Dutch Well which started with technical training. Here we were able to shoot the G46 and G19 with plenty of RUAG Action 4 ammo. Indeed, the G46 felt a little relaxed when shooting. The extra weight of 0.9 oz / 26 g compared to the G19 is probably not the reason. Apparently, the rotation of the barrel has a positive effect on the shooting behavior. Return home and check accuracy. Since the G46 is obviously a compact pistol, we chose a distance of 15 meters with a sandbag support for accuracy testing. 7 loads were used this time including 4 TR certified factory cartridges like the gun. RUAG Action 5 ammo with a 0.94"/  24mm diameter, solid 94g bullet achieved the best average result of two groups of 5 rounds. Second place in the accuracy test remained in the same range: cartridges RUAG Action 4 and certified SeCas both achieved 1.3-inch / 33mm groups. 1.49" / The relatively light 89g MEN Quick Defense with 38mm achieved the highest energy value of all bullets tested at 511 J. The average for all loads was 1.53"/39mm. We didn't note any malfunctions with the G46, even during other dynamic exercises.

GLOCK apparently spared no expense or effort in developing a unique – and significant only in Germany – pistol designed specifically for TR guidance. God

glock generation 1

glock generation 1

Glock Generation 1 - A very common question for new Glock buyers is, "What Gen is my Glock?" Until the release of the 4th generation, Glock officially recognized nothing but model numbers, which contributed to the idea that "Glock is Glock is Glock - they are all the same." But the early collectors noticed the differences and informally settled on three main iterations, or "generations", by which they are classified. The nomenclature became so common that Glock followed suit with the Gen 4 in 2008, and their promotional literature now highlights the previous Gens in some places.

The photos below will help you determine exactly which generation your Glock belongs to, but note that there is a lot of overlap as the transition between models was slow. Also, 3rd gen pistols are still being made due to handgun restrictions in California, so you may have a 5th gen pistol that is actually older than your 3rd gen pistol! Image notes identify key features that are consistent across a generation, but slight changes in markings and internal details can be found at different intervals, and sometimes back and forth, within a single generation. Therefore, hard breaks between generations only indicate significant revisions of the frame, many parts are interchangeable between two or more, but some changes last only for a short period within a generation.

Glock Generation 1

Glock Generation 1

The first generation was one of constant change. The original design, while robust, was still a work in progress. The only consistent feature is the grip texture, which covers the entire grip (no front or back strap cage). It has a smoother feel compared to later generations and has been considered by collectors to have a "pebble texture". Early rifles featured a thinner stainless steel barrel with a parker finish that was introduced at an early stage (no later than the AD prefix) and the barrel wall thickness was increased no later than the AN prefix. There are several variations in the magazine, case and small internal parts. All firearms will have Austrian proof stamps, but not the same location or number of stamps. Very early (pre-US) rifles and rifles intended for European markets do not have a serial number plate on the frame. Most early guns were also equipped with sights which became known as "weak sights" due to their fragility. Standard (fixed) sights are also period correct, although the target version will cost a premium. All frames had an embossed crescent design on the bottom of the front straps, except for the few 19's that were made.

Glock Pistols Gen3 Vs Gen4. What Is The Difference Between The Generations?

The second generation is what many novice collectors or even inexperienced dealers will refer to as the "first generation". The confusion stems from two factors: 1. The first generation is very rare and many casual observers may not have seen it before. 2. Many models were introduced in the second generation line and are considered by some to be "first generation" because this is the first release of that particular model. To clear things up, if you have a model 20 or higher, you have a second generation Glock, even if it is the first version of that gun. The obvious difference between the 1 and 2 for the 17-19 models is that a cage has been added to the front and rear straps, and the texture of the side panels has changed (deeper than the 1st generation ). Generation 2 also saw the introduction of additional 5 calibers, and all non .380/9mm guns were equipped with a second locking pin to prevent frame cracking from higher recoil. It is important to note that the number of needles does NOT indicate a generation, as many believe. 9mm frames only have two pins from Gen 1 to Gen 3, while all other calibers will have 3 pins. All full size frames are embossed with a magnetic hole at the bottom of the front strap.

By the late 1990s, Glock had become a dominant force in the American pistol market, and other manufacturers were trying to copy the design. This led to some pressure to "innovate" the Glock design to try to get ahead of the pack. Changes in the 3rd generation actually started with the release of subcompat models in 1995. It was felt that the handle would be too small for many to hold, so finger grooves were made on the front strap to try to increase purchase and prevent rotation due to recoil. This began a 3-year transition period until the full changes hit all models in '98. Some of the larger frame transitional models are quite rare (especially ported versions) - see https:///transitional/ for more information. The Gen 3 will have finger grooves on the front strap, thumb rest inlets at the top of the handle, and an accessory rail molded into the dust cover. As mentioned above, ONLY for 9mm calibers you will still find 2-pin designs during the early launch of Gen 3. In the early 2000s the frames were converted to 3-pin.

By the time the 4th generation came out, the Glock had become ubiquitous for "pistols", but once again they faced rivals with more innovative designs. One fashion trend that caught on with consumers was the availability of interchangeable straps to better adapt the pen to hands of different sizes. Glock first experimented with narrower grips in the Gen 3 SF models (they were only available in .45 and 10mm calibers). The modular strap system brought SF proportions to all frames with two size options and even beavertail dropper inserts. The internals were redesigned from the ground up and actually built with the recoil profile of the .40S&W in mind, then chambered for 9mm (where the Gen 1-3 was designed the other way around). This should make the .40 models more durable while maintaining the legendary reliability of the 9s. The texture of the grip has also changed to a more aggressive pattern on the side panels - again, this was tried for the first time in the short range of the last generation 3 guns with the so-called texture " RTF2". Technically the RTF2s are Gen 3, possibly Gen 3.5, and were only produced (except for special periods) from 2009 to 2011. See the image at the bottom of this page.

The first Gen 5 models were actually preceded by the release of the new slim subcompact models 42 and 43. These models started with a major redesign with all new interiors to accommodate the smaller size, and the FBI played a role in these changes. to the big guns with their claim to the Model M. The 19X, 42, 43, 43X, 44, 45, and 48 technically do not have the Gen 5 designation on the slide, but are still the closest match to -The other Gen 5 pistols. The 17 and 19 were officially released as Gen 5s in 2017, followed by other offerings in 9mm and .40 S&W, but no offerings of .357 Sig, 10mm, or . 45 ACP have yet to be released. Major changes of note include a "shooter" barrel, full double barrel controls, extended magwell, and removal of finger grooves on the front strap.

Glock 17 Gen1

One can find (at least) two other designs that actually fall outside the generational boundaries or are so different that they are difficult to identify from the above discourse: 1. The third generation RTF2 and 2. The FBI's M series.

RTF2 is an abbreviation for "raw frame texture, second version". The first version was only made as a prototype and was never released, although at least one is on display at the Cody Firearms Museum. The designers settled on the second version, and new shapes were made to incorporate this grip texture into the standard design of the 3rd generation. All internal parts are the same, so the only difference would be the texture of the handle. As you can see in the extended photo, the entire catch is covered in little pyramids - and let me tell you, they are sharp! This gun will really stay in your hand even when wet. Glock sold them primarily to the police from 2009 to 2011, but the design is a clear step between the third and fourth generation firearms. The pyramid concept continued, but with larger pyramids, as the RTF2 pyramids were susceptible to wear and tear as well as through clothing. See https:///rtf2g/ for more photos.

Finally, the FBI's M-series pistol is worth talking about. The 17M and 19M actually preceded and possibly inspired the Gen 5 guns. They were built to specifications requested by the FBI as the department's new service weapon and incorporated some design changes from the mini models. 42/43 as well as some new ideas. These were the first Glocks with two manual controls and rifling changes designed to improve accuracy. On the outside, however, the M pistol will look and feel almost identical to the Gen 5 - the main differences are internal, so most collectors consider them part of the Gen 5 family. However, for the right person, adding an "M" to the model designation will make a significant difference in price. , which they want

glock gen 4 40

glock gen 4 40

Glock Gen 4 40 - Otherwise, I would call the F-350 a gun. It's the most underrated gun for most everyday users, and usually no one takes it around town. Just don't use it. But there's a reason the F350s exist because they have users who know what they need to do a great job. It could be a heavy load, a long haul or just hauling *ss.

Chambered in 10mm, the G40 Gen4 in MOS mode combines a full 6-inch barrel for increased velocity and a magazine capable of holding 15 rounds. The G40 Gen4 in MOS configuration is powerful yet easy to carry; ideal for the outdoorsman, hunter and sportsman. Designed to give the hunter the best choice in a semi-automatic game pistol, it has proven more than capable of taking down game such as Whitetail Deer, Russian Boar and even Feral Hogs.

Glock Gen 4 40

Glock Gen 4 40

The new Glock pistol cases are a big step forward, but I would argue that the G40 is better. Upon opening it, the box almost fell out due to the contents. Everything will return to the topic, be sure to improve your Tetris skills.

Glock 27 Gen4 .40 S&w Pistol 9rd 3.42\

I expected the Glock to be heavier for its size, but it's a soft giant at over 28 ounces. Now, I don't call it beautiful, no matter how big it is. Unloaded, the gun is heavy from the long slide, but once the magazine is in place, it starts to balance out (about 40 ounces). It wasn't until I had the red dot on top that I realized it wasn't the same for long shooting times.

The grip itself is large. Those with small arms should not use them, even if there is no back strap. My husband, he can hold the rear line of the G17 9mm which was hard to get a strong grip on and pull the trigger at the same time. My large hands found the smallest position the most comfortable, but the rear strap was the most secure as I often held it high on the gun and grazed. Unlike other Glock pistols, the G40 does not have a slide stop.

I'm sure it will be mentioned a few times, but for the record, this is a Glock Gen 4. The grip includes finger bushings (which work for me), a square grip design (which I also like), size and clearance. . magazine release, and a very shallow bump in the middle finger trigger guard. It comes with an adjustable Glock model (which is useful, but awesome) and interestingly, the rear sight is mounted slightly behind the slide. Not sure if it's a visual mechanic, but it's his rage for "perfection".

The MOS system or "Modular Optic System" is the latest and I found a surprising addition to the Glock family. Meet the G40 and its smaller 9mm/.40 counterpart, factory-installed cartridge. This is not new, because the market has been doing it for years, but it is useful and really helps the "perfect" to be closer to perfection.

Glock 40 Gen 4 Mos 10mm

Author's Note- It was a shame that the PFI fiber carried over from Pride Fowler was not compatible with the MOS system. When installed for either design, the sight sits too far forward to fit directly into the gun as intended. I received a Trijicon mini dot to test the MOS system (not pictured).

Usually, those who want performance have to buy a commercial tank, send it for drilling, or use four-wheel drive. Doing this at the factory has several advantages. After loading into a milling machine, it is easy and cheap to add cuttings, the cutting part can be assembled instead of isolated, and it ensures better tolerance of different machine loads.

The MOS mounting unit sits in front of the rear sight. When it ships, it comes with a damper and markings that match the slide. Blending is excellent and only those with steady eyes or close to the shot will find the exposure acceptable. The plate is held together by two additional headers and can be easily removed to attach an eye. Attach the mounting plate to slide with the selected mounting plate. Voila.

Glock Gen 4 40

Once installed, another artifact is obtained. Factory reviews are too low for any collective proof. Considering the cost of injecting these, another view from Glock. I know there are many aftermarket systems out there, but at least Glock made the attempt.

Glock 22, Generation 4, .40 S&w

If one has shot 10mm before, there is nothing remarkable about the Glock's performance. The cartridge, to me, is just like its daughter the .40 S&W. There is a bit of trouble in the recoil, which the double spring and heavy slide help to smooth out, but not so much that I can go on another paragraph.

Accuracy continues to be average for my Glock capabilities, but the longer front sight helped make it a little stronger, over 1.5" at 15 yards (Freedom Munitions 180 grain RNFP) with iron sights. (I usually shoot about 2 ).″ with the G19).By improving the eye (provided by PFI - details to come), I was able to reduce even more, shooting 2.0″ at 25 yards.

As with almost every review written on Glock, the trigger is long, smooth and solid Glock. However, I am not a fan of this, because Glock decided to remove the features found in many of their other guns. This really strengthens the safety which after about three magazines started to bother my finger. After 100 rounds I really hated it. Of course the individual will rule the roost, but this is one Glock that in my opinion needs a booger switch.

On a side note, the MOS system really shines on the gun. True to the Glock's intended purpose, plus the scope makes this a "long" gun with real hunting potential. For older eyes or just quick aiming at moving targets, the pistol's red dot lights up. With a better trigger or a better exchange, the G40 could and would meet Glock's requirements for a good hunting rifle.

Glock 40 Gen 4 10mm 15rd

But I will note that it is necessary to make the best use of the length of the included leather. Factory 10mm loads are usually "cast"

Author's Note: Although Glock specifically disclaims the model, the .40 S&W could be shot up to 10mm, if not better, more comfortably because the weight of the powder flows better. Glock says it will void your warranty, and rightfully so, since one fires a round out of range. TFB and I do NOT recommend doing this at home.

The problem with reviewing Glocks is that they are Glocks. There is absolutely nothing new about them so let the authors find the story. This is no different. The G40 Gen 4 is basically a Glock, just bigger. Great gun for those who want or need a 10mm. If you don't need 10mm, the compromises to get there with more grip and reach aren't worth it, in my opinion.

Glock Gen 4 40

On the other hand, the MOS for the installation of the device is very much appreciated and is a strong step forward for the famous company Glock. With simple plates that attach to almost every micro-red dot imaginable (except PFI) it's a very practical system that works well, although I'd like to see how it handles the majority, the red systems aren't scaling.

Glock Gen 4 Glock 22, 35 .40 S&w 22 Round Factory Magazine

Ultimately, the combination of the two makes this a new Glock. This is a real pistol with a 6 inch long barrel (although one has to remount it to take full advantage of this length). In addition, it is reliable, shockproof and a red stick can be installed without searching for a slide, accessories or accessories.

So if you need that big gun, it's a lot of work. If you don't need that big gun, go for the smaller option, you'll be happier.
